About Doug

My family and I have loved this journey, serving as your Senator for Kansas' 37th senate district. I spent my formative high school years in the senate district at Louisburg High School and moved back to Louisburg after completing my college career. My wife and I are both proud K-State Alumni, where I obtained my Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science and Industry, a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) and a Doctorate of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Diagnostic Medicine and Pathobiology, with an emphasis in Production Medicine and Epidemiology. I also earned a Graduate Certificate in Applied Biostatistics from the university. My wife and our four children proudly call Louisburg home.

I am currently a partner in an animal health company that is focused on bringing solutions to the market that make animal's lives better. Previously, I was a teaching professor supporting learners in graduate degree programs related to animal health, human health, and life sciences. Before becoming an educator, I worked in research and development in the animal health industry where I helped develop new veterinary medicines and technologies for food producing species and pets. I am still actively involved in the animal health industry and am a partner in a small animal health company.

I have always been motivated to aim for the stars and help to make a brighter future. This is why I became a veterinarian and a professor. This why you elected me as your Kansas Senator for the 37th Senate District - to help make things better in Kansas.
